The Great Return of Mustafina

Two time Olympic gold medalist, Aliya Mustafina of Russia is eagerly expected to return to major competitions in the 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Doha, State of Qatar (October 25th – November 3rd 2018). The 23 year old took a break in her successful career after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, in order to become a mother. Baby Alisa was born in the summer of 2017 and by September her mother was back in training.

Mustafina, the winner of 11 world medals, including three gold, is included in the team for the worlds in Doha according to the head coach of the Russian team, Valentina Rodionenko. Mustafina is a force to be reckoned with in the team event and of course the uneven bars, her favorite event.
